The column, base and head of the instrument are decorated with stucco and gilded. Depicted are lyre-playing angels, winged mythical creatures, palmettes, flutes and figurative friezes. The body, neck and soundboard are made of precious wood. The sound box can be opened with the pedal to unfold the sound. Sebastian Erard is considered the most famous harp builder of the 19th century and the inventor of the double-pedal harp. The name of this, as well as the serial number 2311, are located on the upper part of the neck.
