A restored, exceptionally elegant two-door cabinet dating from the transitional period between the late Biedermeier and Louis-Philippe styles (circa 1850). This magnificent piece of furniture combines the architectural clarity of the Biedermeier era with the softer, more fluid accents characteristic of the mid-19th century.
Materials & Veneer: The cabinet is crafted from solid oak and finished with the finest cherry veneer. A true highlight of the piece is the masterfully executed, symmetrically mirrored (reverse-matched) veneer pattern featured on the front doors and drawers. The natural, lively grain of the cherry wood creates an enchanting X- or diamond-shaped pattern, lending the cabinet a warm, rich, and exceptionally high-quality appearance.
Stylistic Features & Details:
Upper Section: A broad, gently curved cornice—characteristic of the transition toward the Louis-Philippe style.
Mid-Section: An integrated row of elegant drawers perfectly separates the upper and lower sections, offering practical storage space for documents or small items.
Base: The cabinet rests on sturdy, subtly curved console legs (block legs)—typical of the period around 1850—which provide the piece with a stable foundation and an elegant aesthetic.
Condition: The cabinet is in excellent, ready-to-use condition. It exhibits only minimal signs of age-related wear, which attest to the piece's authenticity and history while lending it a beautiful patina. The interior is clean and fitted with sturdy shelves. For ease of transport, the cabinet can be disassembled into two separate sections (upper and lower). 5 drawers
